Engine Of Apocalypse = 1988-2018: The First 30 Years

by ICONICIDE

  • Compact Disc (CD)

Engine Of Apocalypse is the downward momentum of Progress. It is the suicidal urge of Procreation, the evolutionary race to Extinction. It is the pulse of Chaos which brought into the life of Iconicide four deeply human beings who, more than musicians, were members of the extended dysfunctional Iconicide Family, and which took them from us all too soon; four of our brothers fallen within four years. In true testimony to the history of the band, some of the live tracks presented here are the only time these songs were ever played, and with their passing, some have never been played since. Shane, Mario, Roger and Lynn, r.i.p.

about

The history of Iconicide is the history of a band born from, bred in, and raised on adversity and chaos. From their earliest days as an ill defined crew established at NYC’s Anarchist Switchboard in the aftermath of the Tompkins Square Park Police Riots of 1988, everything about them would fly in the face of any convention possible without even trying. With a skeleton of Punk, Metal and Hardcore, they have proven too Punk for Skinheads, to Hardcore for Metalheads, and too Metal for Punks. Add to this Chris/the Antimessiah’s exposure from an early age to everything from Motown and Soul to Big Bands and Crooners to Black Sabbath to Polkas, and a lyrical style grounded in Scorched Earth Blues, and the resulting barrage practically demands placement in its own genre. Just ask the 100+ members who have passed through Iconicide’s ranks. Still, many in the past 30 years have accused the band of being exclusively Metal, which is why you’re holding this in your greasy little paws. Happy? Don’t be. This is still far from an album you can listen to without thinking.

So what the hell is this, you ask? Why, the answer is simple.
This is iconicide.

ICONICIDE New York, New York

ICONICIDE are a NYC based band whose sound has ranged from sludgy political dirges to blazing fast thrash, from toe tapping street punk to a lethal mix of dub reggae and death metal. Underlying it all has been what spurred frontman Chris (the Antimessiah) to start the band back in 1988: the stripped down, no nonsense, rip out your guts sound of Early 80s New York Hardcore. ... more
